NORTHWOOD 11, WEST NOBLE 0
NorthWood’s baseball team dimed visiting West Noble in five innings Monday night.
The Panthers put up crooked numbers over each of the first four innings, and Nate Newcomer and Jason Cripe combined for a three-hit shutout. Newcomer got the start and the win, surrendering only two hits and three walks versus two strikeouts over three innings of work on the hill.
Alec Holcomb finished 2-for-2 at the plate with four RBI, Jaden Miller went 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Trey Allman drew a trio of walks on his way to three runs scored. Holcomb, Cooper Davis and Josh Stratford all doubled, and Kyler Hauptli tripled in the win.
Juan Ramirez, Jorge Villanueva and Hunter Saggars recorded West Noble’s three hits. Adrian Pizana took the pitching loss, giving up six hits and five walks for eight earned runs in three innings pitched.
Wood hosts Elkhart Central Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Wawasee’s JV baseball team took its first loss of the season with a narrow loss at Central Noble Monday.
Riley Turner pitched five innings, giving up four runs — just one earned — with eight strikeouts in the loss.
