Wawasee Offers 2019 Summer Robotics Camps
SYRACUSE — Wawasee schools announces its summer robotics camps for grades seven to 12. Three camps will be offered: Introduction to VEX Robotics and VEX Robotics competition camp and VEX Robotics coding camp. All camps are from 8 a.m. to noon at Wawasee High School in room A205.
Introduction to VEX Robotics camp ($100) will take place July 1-3 and 5. This is for campers with minimal levels of experience with robotics. Campers will spend the week studying and applying concepts in physics, engineering and computer programming. Campers will be introduced to the VEX Robotics platform used in the high school club and course. Campers will construct a basic robot and program it to follow a maze. They will then modify the robot to participate in a simple game. This is a great way to gain experience before participation on the WHS robotics team.
VEX Robotics competition camp ($60 per week) is four weeks long: July 1-3 and 5, 8-12, 15–19 and 22-26. This is for campers with all levels of experience with robotics. Campers will spend four weeks studying and applying concepts in physics, engineering, and computer programming. Campers will construct robotic designs and use them to compete in the VEX Robotics Challenge for the upcoming competition season. Robotic systems designed will include chassis, intakes, lift systems, and manipulators.
VEX Robotics Coding Camp ($75 per week) will take place July 29 to Aug. 2. It is for campers with all levels of experience with robotics. Campers will spend time studying and applying concepts in computer programming as it applies to VEX Robotics including basic commands, programming logic, program flow and the use of sensors. Programs will be geared toward autonomous challenges for the VEX Robotics Challenge for the upcoming competition season.
