Vikings Sweep Trojans
BOURBON — Tippecanoe Valley baseball earned a pair of lopsided wins over host Triton in a doubleheader Saturday.
The Vikings won 18-3 and 19-1 in a pair of five-inning affairs. Layne Prater surrendered just two hits for two earned runs on his way to the pitching win in game one. Payton Milles collected three hits for Valley, while Prater, Ethan Yates and Braxton Davis each tallied two. Tucker Shull hit a home run on his way to two RBIs.
Yates got the pitching win in game two, giving up just one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts in three innings pitched. Wes Melanson went 4-for-4 at the plate, while Yates, Prater, and Drake Montelongo tallied two hits apiece as part of a 15-hit game by the Vikings. All told, Valley recorded 26 hits in the sweep.
