Patricia N. ‘Pat’ Schaller
Patricia N. “Pat” Schaller, 80, of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she peacefully passed away at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at her home.
On July 19, 1938, Patricia Nadine Segvich was born in Chicago. She was the treasured daughter of John and Mary Nadine Young Segvich. In 1956, she graduated from Griffith Senior High School.
At Our Lady of Grace in Highland, Pat married the love of her life, John F. Schaller on June 23, 1962. They have shared 56 years of life’s adventures. From their union came seven wonderful children: Anne, Caroline, Eileen, John, Jacqueline, Jeffrey, and Joseph. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations, including 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted member of Rochester’s St. Joseph Catholic Church for more than 50 years. She served her church as treasurer of the Altar and Rosary Society for three decades. Pat worked at The Rochester Sentinel for 21 years as circulation manager, retiring in 2001. Following her retirement, she became a member of RSVP and enjoyed many activities at the senior center. She especially loved playing bingo.
As the matriarch of the Schaller family, she was so very proud to oversee four generations. She and and her husband faithfully attended sporting events and school activities of all of their legacy. She looked forward to special family celebrations and the holidays making the best memories of their lifetime.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, John, and their seven children: Anne Schaller (Kevin) Curran of Carmel, Caroline Schaller Utter of Rochester, Eileen Schaller Miller of Rochester, John (Ana) Schaller of Carrollton, Texas, Jacqueline Schaller (Charles) Roth of Tinley Park, Ill., Jeffrey (Ranae) Schaller of Fort Wayne and Joseph (Michelle) Schaller of Carmel; 18 grandchildren: Michelle Curran, Megan Curran, Kelsey (Matt) Eck, Ryan Utter, Austin Utter, Jodi (Jason) McMillen, Jamie (Lee) Sutton, Jarred Fairchild, Jackob Miller, Emma Schaller, John Matthew Schaller, John Roth, Charles Ferdinand Roth, Jeffry Schaller, Maryssa, Schaller, Ashlyn Schaller, Brinn Schaller and Hanna Schaller; five great-grandchildren, Ella and Lumen McMillen, Alexandrea, Blake and Xander Sutton; half- sister, Nancy Bruce of Frankfort, Ill. and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Pat in death were her parents and step father, John Klietz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 8 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1301 Main St., Rochester. Father Michael McKinney will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2019 and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home. The Rosary and Vigil Services will be at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. Ann’s Cemetery of Kewanna.
