Students Dive Into Shark Dissection At Leesburg Elementary
LEESBURG — Third graders at Leesburg Elementary School recently had the opportunity to learn about the life and anatomy of sharks. This annual learning unit, which has been taught for the past nine years during the month of March, is a cross-curricular lesson plan that allows students the opportunity to experience the world of a shark.
After studying the creatures in class, students were able to learn first-hand about the anatomy of a shark through the dissection of spiny dogfish sharks with Rose Love from Warsaw Community High School.
Students will continue the learning experiences on these underwater predators in May when they will have the opportunity to visit the Indianapolis Zoo to see sharks live in action.
