Warsaw Man Arrested For Domestic Battery
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after battering a female while in the presence of a child.
Jay Wesley Hicks, 46, 909 Walkers Ridge, Warsaw, is being charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On March 31, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department went to a residence to conduct a welfare check on a female.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, upon arrival, the officer observed the female at the residence and saw she was visibly upset. The officer saw a male, identified as Hicks, in the residence. Hicks asked the officer why he was there and said the female did not want to speak to the officer.
The officer had the female walk outside with him and spoke with her. The female said Hicks hit her, threw her purse and some boxes and pulled her hair. The officer observed a large red mark on the right side of the female’s face. She also told the officer that a minor was present at the residence and observed the battery occur. While speaking with the female, Hicks opened the door of the residence and told the officer to leave.
Hicks was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on March 31, with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
