Lancers Perform Well In Kentucky
RICHMOND, Ky. – Grace’s women’s golf team picked up lots of hardware over the weekend at the Alice Lloyd Invitational.
The Lady Lancers finished second as a team and had four players finish in the top six overall at Battlefield Golf Course.
Sydney Abbott, Anna Marshall, Rachel Harvey and Kara Godsey all placed high on the individual leaderboard to pace Grace.
Abbott finished third overall by carding a consistent 81-83, and Marshall was not far behind at 86-83.
Harvey (85-87) and Godsey (88-84) tied for fifth overall, firing a overall score of 172 in the tournament.
Lauren Keiser’s 89-93 rounded out Grace’s scoring, and Kristin Holt carded a 92-93. Olivia Shaw, April Bishop, Amanda Gifford and Sarah Ganger all got their spring seasons started in the tournament as well.
“The weather was extremely difficult. We had 35 miles per hour wind the first day and 30-degree temperatures the second. Scores were inflated for everyone, but we finished second as a team and had four of our players in the top-six positions,” said Grace head coach Denny Duncan. “I’m especially pleased with our determination! I think it was a successful start to the year!”
The Lady Lancers continue the spring season on Friday and Saturday with the St. Francis Invitational.
