WARSAW — Warsaw Community High School’s band and orchestra students hope to soon enjoy the replacement of their outdated, poor-fitting and worn uniforms with the assistance of a grant totaling $5,000, provided by the Kosciusko County Community Foundation.
The WCS instrumental music program offers students a unique opportunity to practice, perform and compete in a multitude of settings for a varied audience. Being a performer in the program allows them to connect with their peers and members of the community, as well as be showcased on the state and national stage. Instrumental music teaches hands-on, real-world skills necessary for the growing workforce.
The ongoing project is being coordinated by Robert Brannock, director of bands; and Heather Brannock, director of orchestras for WCS; as well as the WCHS Band Booster Club, its president and executive board members. The band and orchestra directors have a combined experience of more than 35 years in public education, with several booster members serving in the local business community.
To fund the remainder of the project, the Warsaw Instrumental Music Program is currently seeking local partners with an interest in supporting the arts and music education in the Warsaw schools and community. If you are interested in helping support the program, please contact Robert Brannock at [email protected].
