Lowell L. Engle
Lowell L. Engle, 80, of Indianapolis (formerly of Warsaw and Greenwood) found rest in Jesus’ arms on March 15, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Warsaw on Oct. 25, 1938, he was the third of four sons of Louis and Dorothea Engle. He grew up in Kosciusko County and graduated from North Webster High School in 1956. He married Susan Adkins on Dec. 17, 1966. She preceded him on Feb. 2, 2015.
Lowell lived in the Warsaw area until 2004, when he retired after 20 years of service with the Kosciusko County Highway Department, after working at Clausing for 20 years. An avid train lover and Chicago Cubs fan, he enjoyed both with his family, along with watching classic westerns and Southern Gospel programs. He also loved spending time outdoors, especially taking walks in his neighborhood and growing his potted tomato plants. He was a wonderful example and provider for his family. He loved Jesus and attended Indian Creek Christian Church. His work ethic and heart for serving others was unparalleled.
He is survived by his daughters Laura Dodson of Indianapolis and Amy (Christopher) Parks of Rocky Face, Ga.; grandchildren Jarrett Dodson of Indianapolis, Kirbi (Keith) Baldridge of Tunnel Hill, Ga., and McKenna Parks of Rocky Face, Ga.; great-grandchildren Cash, Briar, and Emma Baldridge, all of Tunnel Hill, Ga,; brother and sister-in-law Tom (Judy) Engle of Nappanee; sisters-in-law: Carole Engle of Yucaipa, Calif. and Nina Stapley of Globe, Ariz.; brothers-in-law: Guy Adkins of Hastings, Mich and Larry (Coraethel) McConnell of Warsaw; and numerous relatives and friends locally and around the United States.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded by his parents and two brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to Indian Creek Christian Church or Franciscan Hospice Care. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at The Creek, 6430 S. Franklin Road, Indianapolis. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
