FOREMAN/OPERATOR FOR WASTEWATER PLANT
The Town of Syracuse Public Works Department is accepting applications for a Foreman/Operator position at its Wastewater Plant. Previous experience as a Foreman/Operator is preferred; however, previous experience in the wastewater field will also be noted. Position Requirements:
- Position requires the ability to schedule and oversee other employees in the day to day activities, as well as performing and helping with both scheduled and emergency maintenance of equipment, vehicles, etc.
- Position requires learning how to operate and maintain various kinds of equipment, both at the wastewater plant and collection systems.
- Weekend duty on a rotating basis and being available for emergency calls after hours is a must.
- And all other duties as assigned by the plant manager
Position Responsibilities include:
- Sourcing, pricing, and ordering parts, pumps, motors, and all other materials needed for keeping the plant running on a consistent basis.
- Coordinating the work of all plant operators
- Performing preventative maintenance
- Developing new operating instructions in coordination with the plant manager and reviewing operating reports
- Communicating with the plant manager
- Help in training new operators
- Take and follow verbal and written directions
- And all other duties as assigned by the plant manager
Experience/Education requirements include:
- Experience in the field of the wastewater industry
- Class Ill Wastewater license
- Prior electrical knowledge and trouble shooting
- Heavy equipment operation experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and follow wastewater operation manuals
- Have or be able to acquire a Class B CDL driver’s license with both Air Brakes and Tanker endorsements (within one year)
