Warriors Close With Home Win
SYRACUSE – Wawasee closed out a successful middle school gymnastics season with a 109.8-108.9 victory against Lakeland Thursday night.
Wawasee peppered the top three all night, led by first-place scores of 9.6 on vault and 9.45 on floor from Eden Scott and Morgan Reel’s 9.6 on beam. Scott was second on all-around at 37.15, Reel was third on all-around at 36.25 and Delaney Delagrange was second on bars at 9.2 and third on floor at 9.35.
Macie Tharp chipped in a 9.25 on floor, 9.05 on beam and 8.55 on vault and Trinity LaJoice wrapped up her middle school career as an eighth grader with an 8.8 on bars.
Emma Schiffli again led Lakeland, tying Scott for first on vault at 9.6, and taking bars at 9.7 and all-around at 38.25. Schiffli was second on beam at 9.55 and floor at 9.4.
“The girls have nicely improved through the season and with 10 six graders out of 12 gymnasts, the coming years are looking good,” said Wawasee coach Berengere Cole.
In the JV competition, Lakeland topped Wawasee 99.2-97.45. Karissa Boesenberg and Ella Beer led the way for Wawasee, Beer scoring a 9.35 on bars while Boesenberg tallied a 9.0 on bars and 33.1 in all-around figures.
