Floyd E. Weaver
Floyd E. Weaver, 91, rural South Whitley, died at 11:39 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019, at North Woods Village at Inverness Lakes, Fort Wayne.
He was born Aug. 4, 1927, in Whitley County, a son of the late Walter and Pauline (Jacobs) Weaver. During his childhood years, his family moved throughout the country. He graduated from Huntington Beach High School, Huntington Beach, Calif. and then entered the Merchant Marines to help with the war effort.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
On Oct. 1, 1950, he was united in marriage to Romona Lee Jackson. They made their home in Roanoke, later moving to their farm near South Whitley for the past 66 years.
He was employed by International Harvester, Fort Wayne as a welder for 30 years and also maintained a farming operation. His favorite pastimes were fishing and flying his planes.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Romona; three daughters: Pamela A. (David) Teegardin, Hudson; Sandra S. Weaver, Syracuse; and Sherri L. (David) Ayres; South Whitley; five granddaughters; and two step-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Weaver.
The funeral service is 3 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is in the South Whitley Cemetery. Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Sunday before the service at the funeral home.
