Grace Offense Stays Red Hot
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A day after scoring 13 runs, Grace’s baseball team upped that production even more on Tuesday.
The Lancers blasted Rochester 24-4 on Tuesday to pick up their third straight win in Florida.
Jaron Mullett, Xavier Harris, Branden Scott and Jacob Sapp all had multi-hit games, and Scottie Clark pitched a gem from the mound.
Clark threw six innings of one-hit ball. He yielded just one hit and one walk during his six innings and struck out eight batters. Joey Peebles threw the final inning of the contest.
Grace’s offense scored all 24 of its runs over a four-inning stretch. The Lancers plated three times in the second to jump ahead.
In the third inning, Hunter Ackerman, Scott and Mullett each had an RBI single, and David Anderson drew a bases-loaded walk to score another run.
Matters seemed to snowball as Grace tacked on 16 more runs across the fourth and fifth innings. Scott drove in two runs with a double to start Grace’s scoring in the fourth, and later Harris had a two-run single.
In the fifth inning, Grace used six hits and five walks to score nine runs. Beach Harmon cleared the bases with a triple, and Bret Wilhelmi also doubled to bring in a run.
Rochester managed to score four runs in its final at-bats, but the damage was already done.
Scott batted 3-for-3 with three runs and five RBIs, and Mullett hit 3-for-5 with a run scored and four RBIs.
Harris finished 3-of-4 with 3 RBIs, 2 walks and 1 run, and Sapp was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.
Ackerman and Wilhelmi each had 1 hit, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored, Chris Griffin plated three times, and Wyatt Buzbee scored twice.
The Lancers’ next game in Florida is Wednesday against Robert Morris at 9:15 a.m.
