Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
1:36 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, East Center Street, Warsaw. Driver: Michelle J. Neal, 30, South CR 700E, North Manchester. Neal was at the Walgreen’s Pharmacy drive-thru. After picking up her items from the pharmacy drawer, she began driving away, assuming that the drawer was closed. While she was pulling out, her vehicle struck the drawer, causing it to be inoperable. Damage up to $2,500.
12:57 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, Eastlake Drive, north of Jefferson Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Ranea A. Pontius, 31, South CR 1400E, Akron; and Robert L. Tobias, 55, EMS B34 Lane, Warsaw. Tobias’ vehicle rear-ended Pontius’ vehicle. According to Pontius, she saw Tobias’ vehicle coming toward the intersection at a high rate of speed so she waited at the stop sign to make sure he was going to stop. Once he stopped his vehicle, Pontius said he looked at her and threw his hands up. She admitted to flipping him off and then making a left turn. Pontius said Tobias then accelerated into the intersection. Pontius admitted she then hit her brakes in the middle of the roadway and this is when Tobias’ vehicle struck the rear of her vehicle. Tobias stated when he approached the intersection he could see Pontius’s vehicle sitting at the stop sign on Jefferson Street. He said he put up his hands, making a gesture of ‘Are you going to go or what?’ Tobias said Pontius then flipped him off and made a left turn. He advised she no sooner got her vehicle straightened out on the roadway when she slammed on her brakes, resulting in the collision. Damage up to $2,500.
8:31 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, South Bronson Street, west of East Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Chelsea B. Smith, 26, East Chili Cemetery Road, Denver; and Robert L. Andrews, 61, West Jefferson Street, Mentone. Smith’s vehicle rear-ended Andrews’ vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
