Twila Diane Smith
Twila Diane Smith, 66, Rochester, died on March 2, 2019, at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis, at 6:25 a.m.
She was born on Oct. 9, 1952, in Rochester, to James and Donna Belle (Ellis) Umberger. She lived all of her life in the Rochester area. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1971.
She married Gary Lee Smith on Oct. 4, 1971, in Niles, Mich. They welcomed their son Timothy into their life on May 5, 1977. She lost her husband on October 28, 1985, when Tim was only eight years old.
Being the head of the household, she was very versatile and worked at many jobs including Wendy’s, the Streamliner, Walmart and TOPPS where she worked for twenty years and her last job was at Townsend’s Meat and Deli, all in Rochester.
She was a member in several organizations including the American Legion Post #27 in Plymouth, the Eagles Lodge (F.O.E.) #852 and the VFW Post #1343 both in Rochester. She attended the Solid Rock Church in Rochester.
She enjoyed early on being on a bowling team and loved doing word searches. She loved holding and cuddling babies and her nieces and nephews were a big part of her life along with family.
Survivors include: son: Timothy Smith of Rochester; mother: Donna (Umberger) Spencer of Cicero; brothers: Kevin Spencer of Tipton, Indiana; Brian (spouse Carol) Spencer of Cicero; step-brothers: Mark (spouse Kathy) Spencer of Westfield; Paul (spouse Leslie) Spencer of Indianapolis; step-sister: Janet (spouse Greg) Murray of Fort Pierce, Fla.; sister-in-laws: Karen Umberger of Mocksville, N.C.; Nancy Webb of Camby; Tara Sarna of Plymouth; Mabel Belcastro of The Colony, Texas; several nieces and nephews

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, at the Earl-Love Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Pastor Neal Brown from the Omega Christian Church will officiate.
Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Rochester.
