LIGONIER – Lakeview took its shots at the West Noble Wrestling Invite over the weekend, looking to make some progress in middle school wrestling.

The Tigers placed tenth in the team standings, scoring 37 points for the day.

Edwing Ortiz landed the highest of all Lakeview wrestlers with a 2-2 day. Isaiah Martinez went 4-1 and took fifth and the trio of Ilyja Martinez, Gideon Castro and Rory Murphy all went 3-2 and finished sixth place. Titus Hoover also earned two wins but finished outside the podium.

In Albion at the Central Noble Invite, Tippecanoe Valley’s team finished with a dozen wrestlers making podium. Bazle Owens led the Vikings with a first-place showing at 220, with Eric Burke at 132 and Gerardo Hernandez at 160 both runner-up. Jadyn Virgil at 140, Zack Burke at 150 and Dalton Alber at 195 were all third-place in their respective classes.
