Syracuse Public Library Finishes Winter With Fun
SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Public Library will host the following events in March:
March Finishes Winter With Fun
Children have spent the winter stuck indoors, but that doesn’t mean they have to sit in front of a screen. At 4 p.m. every Thursday, school-age kids can play games and have social activities. Young children go out to visit community businesses at 10:30 a.m. Mondays. Wednesday toddler time offers a room full of shapes and rhyming experiences at 10:30 a.m. Families with a baby have a get-together time at 10:30 a.m. Fridays.
Craft projects coming up in March are making a daisy painting on a wood panel that is suitable for inside or out. Sign up for this project, which will take place on Wednesday, March 20. Teens can make a Hogwarts castle painting Tuesday, March 19.
As the weather gets warmer and the ice melts, walking with the trails becomes more of an outside occurrence. The group will continue to meet at the Syracuse Community Center at 9 a.m. Thursdays. Advanced chair yoga meets at 9:30 a.m. each Thursday at the library. All that is necessary to come to a chair yoga class is comfortable clothing and a towel. Pyramid and easy chair yoga welcomes participants at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday mornings.
Put These Dates On Your Calendar
Due to popular demand, the knitting, crocheting and fiber-craft group continues to meet through April. Drop by to sit with String Theory, a social fiber group, at 5 p.m. Thursdays. Family Fun at 5 p.m. meets on the last Tuesday of the month to build with Lego games. Discover fun ways to be musical at 5 p.m. every Tuesday in the children’s department.
Help the library’s tech department prepare for a coding camp for teens and tweens this summer by attending a coding program this April. For an hour at 1 p.m. on April 2, 9, and 16, come learn to design a website or video game. The Prenda Company will share how to teach others to code. Adults are asked to give feedback and learn about coding as the staff prepares a coding camp for kids.
Friends Annual Luncheon
The Friends have scheduled their annual luncheon for May 2. It is one of the topics during Thursday’s monthly meeting. The Friends invite guests to join them at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7. An open invitation is extended to continue visiting after lunch.
