Middle School Sports Results: Feb. 23
MACONAQUAH 7TH GRADE GIRLS 22, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 21
In the semi-finals of the Running Rivers Conference tournament, Ava Smith led the Vikings with eight points and Sidney Nelson tossed in five points in the close loss. Maconaquah went on to face Manchester in the championship and cruised to a 46-22 title win. Kaidyn Howard scored nine points for Manchester in the title loss.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY WRESTLING GOES 1-3 AT LAVILLE INVITE
Valley opened with a solid win over host LaVille, but dropped its next three matches to Schmucker, Grissom and New Prairie. Zack Burke was the standout for Valley, running undefeated on the day for the second time at the LaVille Invite. Notching three wins for the Vikings were Dalton Alber and Bazle Owens, and two wins apiece for Galvin Shambaugh, Eric Burke, Robert Wilson, Jadyn Virgil, Aiden Wagner and Dylin Losher.
LAKEVIEW 8TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL 2-0 AT LAKEVIEW INVITE
The home-sided Tigers won both of its games Saturday. In game one, Lakeview knocked out Chesterton 33-22, paced by eight points from Macey Perry and seven points from Riley Boren. In game two against Ben Franklin out of Valparaiso, Lakeview rolled 28-11. A 10-1 run to open the game made the difference. Ryley Burns led Lakeview (12-5) with seven points and Wayne added another six points.
LAKEVIEW 7TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL 2-0 AT LAKEVIEW INVITE
Lakeview defended its turf in the seventh grade tourney on Saturday. Game one went to Lakeview in a 30-13 win over Chesterton. Joey Rastrelli led the Tigers with eight points and Jael Namfukwe was right behind at seven points. Game two had Lakeview drop Ben Franklin 31-16. Rastrelli again led Lakeview (15-1) with 11 points and Amelia Alexander came through with eight points.
