Syracuse Public Library To Host Open Mic Night
SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Public Library will host the following events in February and March:
Evenings Are A Time To Get Out
Adults are encouraged to spend a couple of hours at open mic night at the Syracuse Public Library. Doors open for this popular after-hours reading event at 7 p.m. Friday, March 1. This time, there is no theme and everyone is welcome to read something that is under five minutes long, whether it’s an original story, poem, or a favorite piece they would like to share. Come to watch or come to share.
Family Fun is back with minute to win it games and pizza at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26. Please call the library to make sure favorite toppings are available for enough people.
“Doctor Who” is viewing Season One with a favorite episode. At 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, there will be an evening with themed food and a special image-shifting craft. Hexaflexagons are pretty easy to make and offer many mesmerizing dimensions.
Teen gaming night is at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28. Knitting and crocheting is meeting in the adult lounge.
WorkOne Convenience
WorkOne employee Deb Carpenter from Warsaw brings unemployment and employment services to the Syracuse area from 1 to 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday. She meets individually to answer questions. Save a trip of driving to Warsaw.
There are many weekly programs for children and adults. Mahjong is a perfect place for a beginner to learn the game and meets each week at 1 p.m. Mondays. Story times are a good place to let children get away from being cooped up in the winter.
Food From Fiction
The members of the wintertime book club Food from Fiction are sharing their views on “The School of Essential Ingredients” by Erica Bauermeister. Those attending are bringing ingredients to fill crepes, so that like the story, individuals can create their own food experience. Join the group at 1 p.m. Friday, March 1.
Magnolia Cooking Club is calling for cuisine samples from “The Pioneer Woman” cookbooks for the March meeting. Sign up for what you are bringing at the adult circulation desk and take home a printout of your recipe choice.
