Bonita ‘Bonnie’ Croy
Bonita “Bonnie” Croy, 67, of Nappanee, died at 12:28 a.m., Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, at Elkhart General Hospital, after an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 4, 1951, in Elkhart to Alford and Pearl (Reilly) Collins. Bonita graduated from Nappanee High School. On April 26, 1969, she married Randall Croy at Union Center Church of the Brethren. She was a homemaker. She had worked as nurse’s aide at Goshen Hospital, worked for Nappanee Advanced News, and for many years at Templeton and Henschen Oil in Nappanee. Bonita was a lifetime area resident.
She attended Nappanee United Methodist Church. Mrs. Croy was an advocate for foster parenting and has been a foster parent for 20 years. She loved all college sports, supporting her sons sporting careers at NorthWood High School, and enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by her husband, Randall Croy; sons, Rod (Candi) Croy, Milford; Craig (Stacy) Croy, Cape Coral, Fla.; Todd (Linda) Croy, Goshen; Dustin Croy, Wakarusa; grandchildren: Ashley (Drew) Buss, Ariana (Joseph Hahaj) Croy, Samantha Croy, Bryana Croy, Chace Croy, Cohl Croy, Courtney Fox, Heather Ankrom, Tyler Croy, Hailee Ankrom, Justin Croy, Emily Croy, Cambria Newman, Addison Croy, Brooklyn Croy; great-grandchildren: Savanah and Brantley Buss, Keegan Ankrom, Brooklyn Yaap, Steven Fox, JR, Ladaezia Fox, David Fox, Daisy Croy, Oliver Croy; foster daughter, Andrianna Campos, Milford; sister, Coleen (John) Darrenkemp, Goshen; half brothers, John (Jane) Collins, Elkhart and Richard Collins, Union, MI. She was preceded in death by a half sister, Sally Trine.
Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service, Saturday, Feb. 23, at Nappanee United Methodist Church. Rev. Kevin Reed will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Center East Cemetery.
