Lynn Annette Plett
Lynn Annette (Oliver) Plett, 50, formerly of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019 ,in Slovakia while serving as a missionary. In September 2018 she was diagnosed with stage IV bladder cancer and fought a valiant battle until her death, lasting much longer and living a fuller life than all doctors predicted.
She was born on July 21, 1968, in Columbia City, to Dolores (Sayler) Oliver and Eugene “Gene” Oliver. On Feb. 7, 1998, she was married to Daniel Plett, who survives.
Her mother, Dolores, died in a car accident when she was nine years old. Her father married Carol, whose husband had died a couple years previously. She brought four young children to the mix, Jenna, Dana, David, and Jon.
Lynn Plett had a love for music, she studied at Moody Bible Institute where she graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Music in Sacred Music and piano performance. She played the piano as well as taught piano. She was the music director at the Chinese Christian Union Church in Chicago, Ill. She later served for a couple years in Lyon, France, where she met Daniel. They were married and moved immediately to Bratislava, Slovakia, where their children were born and they reared their family. She was primarily a mother and home-maker, but she was always active in music. She taught Kindermusic, children’s and mothers’ music clubs within churches, and accompanied her children as they learned to perform with various music instruments.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 21 years, Daniel Plett, Bratislava, Slovak Republic; and her three children: Anna (age 18), Samuel (age 16), and Dara (age 12). She also leaves behind her two brothers: David Oliver, Warsaw, Jon Oliver, Singapore; and her three sisters: June Miller, Warsaw; Jenna Hanna, Traverse City, Mich.; and Dana Ovchinnikova, Scottsburg. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dolores and her father, Gene.
Lynn Plett’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service that will conducted at noon on Feb. 21, at the Palisady Baptist Church in Bratislava, Slovakia, and officiated by Pastor Danny Jones. Burial will take place at a later date at Pleasant View Cemetery in Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
