Sixteen Area Wrestlers Make The Grade
CRAWFORDSVILLE – A total of 16 area wrestlers, as well as dozens of others from the region, were honored for their work in the classroom by the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association through its annual Academic All-State.
The list is broken down by class, with both seniors and juniors honored, and split into two for All-State – which is a 3.75 GPA or above (or equivalent) – and then Honorable Mention All-State – which is 3.25-3.74 GPA.
Of those from the direct area, Warsaw had six wrestlers named. Griffin Reed (3.87) and Brock Hogenson (3.80) were both Junior All-State while Jose Grimmett (3.60) was a Senior Honorable Mention. Brock Hueber (3.68), Angel Mendez (3.64) and Austin Brown (3.56) were all Junior Honorable Mentions.
Wawasee had Isaiah Tipping (4.0) named Senior All-State, Logan Baugh (4.16) named Junior All-State, and both Fernando Hernandez (3.7) and Evan Gregory (3.54) named Junior Honorable Mentions.
NorthWood had Jaden Miller (3.90) named Junior All-State and both Jake Lone (3.44) and Zachary Miller (3.25) named Junior Honorable Mentions.
Triton had Aaron Stichter (3.53) named Senior Honorable Mention and Connor Pitney (3.48) named Junior Honorable Mention.
Tippecanoe Valley had Dakota Gaff (3.25) named Junior Honorable Mention.
Senior All-State from the region included Penn’s Rockne Hurley and Kylei Gray, Northridge’s Evan Beasley, John Glenn’s Jacob Borto, Rochester’s Zane Gilbreath and Jimtown’s Hunter Watts.
Senior Honorable Mention from the region included Penn’s Amanda Feder, Noah Brown, Jeff Harper, Garrett Caurro and Nathan Stevenson, Culver Academy’s Joseph Kuhl, Alex Coleman and Jacob Trefren, Goshen’s Daniel Cristobal and Julio Navarro, Mishawaka’s Colin Fee and Salome Walker, Northfield’s Kent Jasper, West Noble’s Isaac Weimer, Jimtown’s Conner Gimson, Peru’s Torian’Ja Forrest, DeKalb’s Lukaas Roller, South Bend Riley’s David Sheley, and Central Noble’s Tanner Schoeff.
Junior All-State from the region included Northridge’s Rhent Addis and Omar Khaiucha, Elkhart Central’s Nate Dibley and Peyton Anderson, Elkhart Memorial’s Brice Johnson, West Noble’s Shayne Tierney, John Glenn’s Sam Carson, Penn’s Anjali Pant, Jimtown’s Riley Horvath and South Bend Riley’s Jacob Atkins.
Junior Honorable Mention from the region included Penn’s Sadie Kunze, Vince Sparrow and Yehezquel DeVault, Jimtown’s Henry Gratzol, Lukas Medford and Jacob Werts, John Glenn’s Brody Miskimon and Aaron Sherman, Goshen’s Kaleb Kilmer and Rasheek Bonds, Mishawaka’s Joseph Walker and Brendon Mark, South Bend Adams’ Horace Hill, Northridge’s Oliver Eveler, Maconaquah’s Blake Kinney, South Bend Clay’s Miguel Renaloza, West Noble’s Taylor Guzman, Culver Academy’s Chris Roth, Elkhart Central’s Brett Felder and DeKalb’s Jackson Lee.
