Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest Of Warsaw Man
WARSAW — What began as a traffic stop ended with a Warsaw man facing drug charges.
Matthew Scott Carver, 47, 3750 Lake City Highway, Warsaw, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Feb. 9, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop in regards to a vehicle driving left of the centerline. The officer also noticed that two out of three rear brake lights were not working on the vehicle.
The officer identified the driver as Carver and asked him if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. Carver advised that there was nothing illegal in the vehicle and gave the officer consent to search.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the officer discovered straw and a glass smoking pipe inside the vehicle, both of which contained methamphetamine residue. The officer also located another glass smoking pipe in Carver’s shirt pocket. According to the officer, Carver admitted that all the items belonged to him.
Carver was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 9, and is scheduled to appear for his initial hearing on Feb. 28.
