Frantz Named Co-POW For Billikens
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Former NorthWood Panther basketball star Jordyn Frantz has continued to excel, and was honored this week for her work.
Frantz, a senior for University of St. Louis, was named Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the Atlantic 10 Conference. Also named Player of the Week was Alyssa Monaghan of Saint Joseph’s. Saint Louis freshman Ciaja Harbison earned Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were for games played February 11-17.
Frantz recorded game and career-high performances in both games last week, scoring 24 points at Duquesne followed by 25 points against Richmond. In the win over Duquesne, she scored 21 of her 24 points in the second half.
Frantz, a 2015 NorthWood graduate, was part of three sectional championships and finished as the second-leading scorer in NorthWood history with 1,421 points.
Leading the Hawks to a 2-0 record on the week, Monaghan, a senior from Drexel Hill, Pa., averaged 23.5 points per game to go with 2.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds, while shooting 46.4 percent from the floor (13-of-28) and 50 percent from three-point range (7-of-14). She led all scorers with 20 points in a win over UMass and followed with a career-high 27 points against La Salle.
Harbison averaged 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 5.0 steals in two Billiken victories last week. The freshman from Louisville, Ky., had 18 points, seven rebounds and game highs of seven assists and six steals (also a career-high) against Duquesne. She had 14 points, a career-high nine rebounds, five assists and four steals in the win over Richmond.
