Raiders, Warriors Top All-NLC Wrestling
GOSHEN – The conclusion of the IHSAA Wrestling State Finals on Saturday saw the Northern Lakes Conference respond with the release of its All-Northern Lakes Conference wrestling awards Sunday evening.
January and all of its horrible weather saw the Northern Lakes Conference cancel its postseason tournament, leaving the regular season to decide its award winners.
Coach of the Year Eric Highley saw his Northridge Raiders run 7-0 in the round robin, and get five wrestlers onto the First Team in Jasper Graber at 106, Justin Puckett at 113, Evan Beasley at 120, Collin Ruemler at 126 and Rhent Addis at 285. Adam Hooley at 145 was named At-Large All-NLC and Julius Graber at 160 was named Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Wawasee finished 6-1 and had Geremia Brooks at 132, Braxton Alexander at 138 and Garrett Stuckman at 145 all named All-NLC, Jace Alexander at 120 as At-Large All-NLC, and the Honorable Mention All-NLC trio of Alex Castro at 182, Damien Rodriguez at 195 and Isaiah Tipping at 220.
Goshen (5-2) had Rasheek Bonds at 120 named At-Large and both Nick Olson at 106 and Jose Rosales at 285 take Honorable Mention.
Warsaw (4-3) had Brock Hueber at 195 as All-NLC, Jose Grimmett at 152 as At-Large, and Jose Martinez at 113 as Honorable Mention.
Wrapping up the All-NLC choices were Memorial’s Kamden Goering at 152 and Clayton Lundy at 160, Plymouth’s Graham Calhoun at 170 and Diego Garcia at 220 and NorthWood’s Jake Lone at 182.
NorthWood’s Jaden Miller and Concord’s Orlando Clark, both 170-pounders, were At-Large selections.
Concord’s Christian Pfeiffer-Laguerre at 120 and Plymouth’s Dominic Smith at 126 were both Honorable Mention.
NorthWood and Plymouth were both 2-5 and tied for fifth in the team standings, followed by Memorial and Concord, which were both 1-6 and tied for seventh.
