Wagon Wheel Theatre To Hold Youth Talent Search For ‘Matilda The Musical’
WARSAW — The Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, a non-union, professional theatre located in Warsaw, is seeking youth ages nine to 14 with strong backgrounds in singing, dancing and acting for its production of “Matilda the Musical.”
Auditions will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Wagon Wheel Theatre, located at 2515 E. Center St. Sign-in will be in the lobby. There is no need to prepare anything, as the theatre will provide a short song to sing and a dance combination. Some individuals may be kept to read from the show. Please bring something comfortable to dance in and appropriate shoes, such as sneakers or jazz shoes.
Roles to be cast from the audition include:
- Matilda Wormwood, an imaginative girl who is clever and wise far beyond her years. She has a thirst for learning that cannot be quenched. A strong singer, actor, and dancer is required with past professional show experience.
- Bruce, Matilda’s classmate who is subject to extreme punishment by Miss Trunchbull. A strong male singer, actor, and dancer is required for the role.
- Lavender, Matilda’s female classmate and friend.
Additionally, three female and three male children will be cast for roles.
Due to time constraints, young actors must be available for the following dates to be considered for a role.
Rehearsals will take place after school and on weekends from May 20 to Jun 3. Additional rehearsals will be required on weekends in May. The musical will be performed from June 4 to 15.
