Enjoy Sweet Activities At Syracuse Public Library
SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Public Library will host the following events in February:
Have A Sweet Time At The Library
If you don’t want to bake a big batch of cookies this Valentine’s day, the Syracuse Library has a cookie for guests to decorate and enjoy. The annual cookie decorating day is from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. Buttons are available to make a button person. Children have a chance to decorate cookies during Fun at Four.
Jackie Franks starts Dining with Diabetes classes on Tuesday for those that want to limit sugars and carbohydrates from their diet. The cooking class with a meal runs for four weeks from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those attending pay for the meals at the first class. It’s $25 per person, or bring a friend for $40.
Other Week’s Specials
Caregivers are reminded that Monday’s story time meets at New Market at 10:30 a.m. to take a tour of all the jobs at our grocery store. Monday, Feb. 11, is also the day when the adult book club is talking about the “Weird Sisters” by Eleanor Brown. The Turkey Creek Readers meet at 4:30 p.m. for an hour of talking about Shakespeare and being a sibling.
At 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, a new monthly series of musical adventures will begin. The Syracuse Library’s resident musician offers a variety of activities, games and songs.
Learn some skills, start to finish, about bread making. At 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, Magnolia Cooking Club invites those attending the meeting to share a recipe or just come to observe and taste.
Writers or aspiring writers are invited to come to a workshop at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. Bring questions, writing projects or an ear to listen to stories by local members in the community. This is an excellent time to try out a piece for open mic night, coming up on March 1.
Meeting Just In The Winter
Learn to play Mahjong at 1 p.m. on Mondays. Three beginning boards are available. Story times, toddler times, and baby times meet at 10:30 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Call the library to find the right one for you.
WorkOne will be upstairs from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13. String Theory is a time to work and encourage that meets at 5 p.m. Thursdays. Any crafts and projects are welcome.
This winter weekly programs are still inviting new members and include chair yoga classes, children’s morning story times, reading to Baylee at 4 p.m. Thursdays, and after-school fun on Thursdays.
