CPS Home Visit Leads To Two Arrests For Dealing
WARSAW — What started out as a call to assist with a Child Protective Services home visit ended with an arrest of two people on charges of dealing and possession.
Jodie Marie Springer, 36, and Dennis Edward McCrory, 39, both of 502 Oldfather St., Warsaw, are being charged with dealing in methamphetamine, a level 4 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Feb. 5, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department was requested to assist a CPS investigator with a home visit for Springer. The officer had knowledge that WPD had been receiving information about drug dealing and drug manufacturing at Springer’s residence.
When the officer arrived at the home, he observed a vehicle occupied by a male and a female leaving the residence. The vehicle registration returned to Springer.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the officer followed the vehicle and observed the vehicle make an improper turn into a parking lot. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as McCrory and the passenger was identified as Springer.
McCrory admitted to the officer that he did not have a driver’s license and that he had an active warrant for a parole violation out of Michigan. McCrory was arrested at that time.
Officers then obtained consent to search the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, they discovered methamphetamine and a glass smoking device. McCrory told the officers that the methamphetamine inside the vehicle belonged to Springer.
Springer was then transported back to her residence and officers obtained consent to search the home. In a shed outside the home, the officers found a plastic bag that contained items to manufacture methamphetamine, including stripped lithium batteries and bottles with holes in the lid and tubes protruding from them. The items were identified as one-pot meth labs.
Springer told officers that she is normally the “middleman” for drug dealing. She further advised that she and McCrory obtained a large quantity of methamphetamine in Michigan and that she deals to people in the Warsaw and North Webster areas.
