SYRACUSE — At approximately 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, Turkey Creek Fire Territory responded to a reported house fire at the southwest intersection of CR 600E and CR 800N. Subsequent calls to 911 informed responders that an explosion also had occurred inside the structure.
Turkey Creek Fire Chief Mickey Scott immediately requested full assists from North Webster Fire Department, Milford Fire Department and Plain Township (Leesburg) Fire Department.
According to a neighbor, no one was inside the house at the time of the fire and explosion, which appeared to have completely destroyed the two-level structure. Several vehicles were parked alongside the house, some of which sustained heavy fire and blast damage.
Indiana State Police, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Syracuse Police Department and Kosciusko County REMC also responded to the scene.
The neighbor reported that the house was owned by Jeff Holly and occupied by Tom Holly. Further details will be reported as they become available.
