City Responds To Waste Management Spill
WARSAW — At approximately 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, Kosciusko County Central Dispatch Center received a report of an odor of what was described as diesel fuel on Boeing Drive in the area of Waste Management.
Fire units were dispatched to the area and located a liquid substance coming from the parking area of Waste Management. Fire crews located what appeared to be a leaking pipe from a diesel storage tank. The crews quickly applied collection booms and absorbent materials in an attempt to control and stop the flow of liquid into the public way.
Waste Management officials contacted a remediation company who has responded to the area and is diligently working to clean the area of the liquid material. Fire crews remained on site during the rainstorm that moved through the area, monitoring the situation.
With workers in the area, Boeing Drive is closed to through traffic today. There was not any fire or injuries associated with this accidental discharge.
Officials from the City of Warsaw and Indiana Department of Emergency Management, along with Kosciusko County EMA, will be in the area today.
