Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
5:39 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, West CR 300N, Warsaw. Drivers: Cynthia G. Tabor, 60, Fisher Avenue, Warsaw; Alissa N. Allen, 31, North Arbutus Trail, Warsaw. Tabor told police she was pulling her vehicle out of the Madison Elementary School parking lot and did not see the vehicle driven by Allen, causing the collision. Damage up to $5,000.
12:24 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, North SR 15, south of West CR 600W, Leesburg. Drivers: Gayle E. Cart, 61, Maye Street, Warsaw; Marcia C. Ashcom, 70, Winona Avenue, Warsaw. A witness told police he saw Cart’s vehicle cross the center line while traveling northbound on SR 15 and strike Ashcom’s vehicle head-on. Both drivers declined medical treatment. Damage up to $10,000.
7:09 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, North SR 13, south of East CR 150N, Pierceton. Driver: Steven E. Heckaman, 63, Westgate Avenue, Columbia City. Heckaman told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
6:12 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, West Main Street, Warsaw. Driver: Selena R. Nelson, 30, Park Ridge Drive, Warsaw. Nelson told police she was backing her vehicle out of a parking spot in the Sheriff’s Office parking lot and said she did not see a vehicle behind her. She said she felt a collision and exited her vehicle to learn she had collided with the prisoner transport van. Damage up to $2,500.
11:46 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, South SR 13 and East CR 600S, Warsaw. Driver: Travis W. Nichols, 23, CR 36, Goshen. Nichols told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 13 and had just dimmed his headlights for an oncoming vehicle when a tire appeared in the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the tire. Damage up to $5,000.
1:01 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, East US 30, west of Matchett Drive, Pierceton. Driver: Kasmatie Robertson, 32, Crestlane Drive, Warsaw. Robertson told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on US 30 when she said she lost control of her vehicle on the slick road surface, causing it to leave the roadway and strike a road sign. Both Robertson and her passenger, Joycelyn Singh, 50, Liberty Avenue, Richmond, N.Y., complained of chest pain and were transported to the hospital by ambulance. Damage up to $5,000.
7:43 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, South CR 450W, south of South SR 25, Warsaw. Driver: Thomas H. Brookman, 67, West Swan Court, Claypool. Brookman told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on CR 450W when he said he lost control of his vehicle on the slick road surface, causing it to leave the roadway, strike a mailbox and then a utility pole. Brookman told police he had been drinking prior to the crash. Police reported that he suffered bleeding to the face, but that he declined medical treatment. Damage up to $25,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:36 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, East Center Street and South Roosevelt Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Stephanie Chamberlain, 48, Butler, Providence, R.I.; Edgar Brito, Wooster Road, Winona Lake. Brito told police he was driving his vehicle on South Roosevelt Street and was stopped at a stop sign. He said he did not see the vehicle driven by Chamberlain and proceeded into the intersection, causing the collision. Police reported that Brito did not have proof of insurance and was cited for the violation. Damage up to $5,000.
