North Webster Community Center To Host Kosciusko County Kids’ Business Fair
NORTH WEBSTER — The North Webster Community Center will host the Kosciusko County Kids’ Business Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9.
The fair is a one-day marketplace where children in kindergarten through eighth grade can become entrepreneurs by selling products or services to the public. Businesses at previous events have included lawn care, vehicle cleaning, cupcakes, face painting, jewelry, smoothies, entertainment and lemonade.
“The event encourages the young business owners to give back to their community through their business,” said Mike Kissinger, organizer of the business fair. “Those who choose to do this can give back to an organization, such as a food pantry, humane shelter or a missions organization.”
Kissinger said that family members are encouraged to get involved but that kids are the CEOs, with parents acting as employees.
“The kids just blow me away with their unique business ideas and how passionate they are when we give them a chance and an outlet,” said Kissinger. “Although the kids are the CEOs, many times it becomes a great family project. The family time is a big win in my eyes.”
The entry deadline for the fair is Friday, Feb. 15. Entry forms can be delivered via e-mail by contacting Kissinger at (574) 453-8771 or by picking up forms at the North Webster Community Center. The public is asked to support the children by shopping this free event. Corporate and small business financial support is sought to continue this event.
“You cannot come to this event and leave without being inspired,” said Kissinger. “Seeing some of these kids giving part of their hard-earned sales back to a not-for-profit or a family in need is heartwarming.”
