Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:
1:32 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, South SR 15, north of West CR 550S, Claypool. Driver: Matthew J. Hayes, 26, Sunset Drive, Wabash. Hayes told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 15 when he said he lost control of his vehicle on the slick road surface, causing it to leave the roadway and come to rest in a field. Damage up to $2,500.
Syracuse
Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
9:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, North Kern Road, Syracuse. Driver: Charles Rotenberger, 59, Turtle Bay Drive, Syracuse. Rotenberger told police he was backing his vehicle out of a parking space and did not see a parked vehicle behind him, causing a collision. Damage up to $1,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, North Colfax Street, Warsaw. Driver: Timothy A. Secrist, 47, Old Road 30, Pierceton. Ysabel Lozano told police her car was parked on the street and was struck by a truck plowing snow. The snow plow driver, Secrist, told police he provided his information to Lozano after the incident and continued to plow snow. Damage up to $10,000.
Winona Lake
Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, South Country Club Road, east of South Stonebridge Road, Warsaw. Driver: Robert S. Yerkes, 23, North Cook Street, Warsaw. Yerkes told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on Country Club Road when he said he lost control of his vehicle on the slick road surface, causing it to leave the roadway. Yerkes was arrested for operating a vehicle while never having been licensed. Damage up to $5,000.
11:31 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, Freedom Parkway, south of Liberty Drive, Winona Lake. Driver: Nikola Blazic, 27, 13th Street, Winona Lake. Blazic told police he was plowing snow for the town of Winona Lake and that as he was backing his vehicle, he did not see a vehicle parked in the roadway, causing a collision. Damage up to $2,500.
7:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, South SR 15, north of West CR 550S, Claypool. Driver: Lonnie D. Neal, 55, Marilyn Circle, Spring Hill, Tenn. Neal told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 15 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
8:23 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, Park Avenue, south of Kings Highway, Winona Lake. Driver: Aranza Torres Peralta, 20, South Arnold Street, South Bend. Peralta told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on Park Avenue when she said she lost control of her vehicle on the slick road surface, causing it to leave the roadway, strike a curb and come to rest on a sidewalk. Peralta was driving, according to police, with only a learner’s permit and was cited for a learner’s permit violation. Damage up to $2,500.
