Jerald J. ‘Joe’ Longenecker — UPDATED
Jerald J. “Joe” Longenecker, 88, North Webster, passed away at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at his home. He was born on March 24, 1930, in Leesburg, to Chester Marion and Hallie Ellen (Hartman) Longenecker.
He graduated in 1948 from Leesburg High School and lived most of his life in the Leesburg and North Webster area. He was married on Sept. 21, 1952, in Hagerstown to Norma E. Bales who survives. He retired as a Senior Marketing Representative for Hartford Insurance Company and formerly was an insurance adjuster.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in North Webster, American Legion in Warsaw, Masonic Lodge in Cromwell, and Mizpah Shriners in Fort Wayne. He was a former founding member and past president of the Lakeland Kiwanis in North Webster.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Jennifer (Ken) Miller, Anderson; son, Jay (Patti) Longenecker, Noblesville; ten grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Melissa Longenecker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son J. Chris Longenecker, two sisters, Phyllis Shively and Jan Romig, and two brothers, Jack and John Longenecker.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, in the funeral home with Pastor Byron Kaiser officiating. Burial will follow in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery with military graveside rites.
