Emergency Management: County Under Travel Advisory
WARSAW — Emergency Management Administration of Kosciusko County has issued a travel advisory for Kosciusko County until further notice, according to EMA Director Ed Rock.
“What we’re basically saying is ‘hey, it’s not perfect out there. Be careful,'” said Rock. “This advisory is in effect until we change it.”
Rock said residents can install an application on their phone that allows them to monitor such advisories and added that there are four levels of weather status that can be issued. Aside from normal, there is advisory, watch and warning. “Even with the warning, we would not be closing roads,” Rock said. “It’s not the government’s job to tell people how to live their lives. Besides, in Warsaw, the city of Warsaw has such a good snow removal program that it would be silly for us to close the roads.”
Rock said his department issues such advisories in order to provide information for potential motorists and employers to allow them to make informed decisions regarding traveling in adverse weather conditions.
