North Webster Community Public Library Offers Warm, Entertaining Activities
NORTH WEBSTER — Are you looking for some indoor activities to do during the cold winter weather?
North Webster Community Public Library offers a variety of activities that will keep you warm and entertained. Stop in and work on a puzzle or relax with a cup of coffee while enjoying a book, magazine or newspaper in the lounge area. The library’s public computes are available for web browsing, and a variety of classes and programs are offered every week for adults and children.
Next week starts off with Voyager Book Club at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, when the group meets to discuss James Patterson books. If you’ve read one of his books lately, bring it to the club to share and discuss.
At 1:30 p.m. that day, catch a free movie in the Adult Services Department where a classic 1960 comedy will be shown about an aspiring theater critic whose newfound celebrity lands hi in trouble with family and friends. Bring along snacks and enjoy a movie matinee.
A free movie for kids will be shown at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in the library meeting room. Showing is an animated fantasy comedy about an iconic cat and mouse and their adventure with a giant. It runs 44 minutes with free popcorn.
After-school activities are available in the Youth Department at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29. Kids can listen to stories and work on crafts during Crafts and Stories or read to therapy dog Echo during Paws-to-Read. To read to Echo, children need to sign up in advance to secure a private 15-minute reading session with this canine bookworm. It’s not only kids who like to color; adults like to do it too. An informal coloring session will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, in the Adult Services Department. Bring your own coloring sheets and supplies and enjoy a relaxing time of coloring and chatting.
It’s Let’s Move at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31. This is a free dance exercise class for adults of all ages and fitness levels. The group dances along to dance videos as a form of exercise. No registration is needed. Just show up with your dancing shoes and have fun getting fit.
If you’re competing in the Mystery Marathon, be sure to stop by the library this week to check your point standings and initial the race board to earn extra bonus points. If you’re not registered to play Mystery Marathon yet, there’s still plenty of time to sign up and earn points for reading mystery books while competing with other readers. The contest runs through Feb. 28. Rules and details are available at the circulation desk. The winner will be announced March 4.
