Lady Warriors Navigate Home Win
SYRACUSE – Wawasee hosted another sectional rival to which it will have to deal with in about a month for the state tournament when Lakeland stopped in Thursday night for the gymnastics dual.
Wawasee did its job, posting a 100.60-92.625 win over the Lakers. Head coach Nika Prather, however, saw opportunities for the Lady Warriors to jump into the 102-plus range, but left some points on the equipment.
“We were glad to have a win, but hope to break the string of 100s to get at least a 102 next meet,” Prather said, referring to four straight 100s Wawasee has scored this month.
Getting Wawasee to 100 Thursday was a career-best performance from Jada Parzygnot on floor, posting a 9.525. Alyssa Minnix and Aundreya Wegener both hovered around the nines on floor, Wegener at 8.975 and Minnix at 8.95. Wegener also posted a lifetime best of 9.225 on beam. Minnix had the top bars score at 8.6.
Parzygnot also led the room in all-around at 34.725, outgunning Lakeland’s Whittney Ray’s 33.55, who was tops on vault at 8.75 and second on both beam at 8.55 and floor at 9.25.
Wawasee (2-2) will look forward to a road meet Monday night at East Noble.
