Fort Wayne Man Arrested For Stealing Pair Of Shoes, Cellphone At YMCA
WARSAW — A Fort Wayne man was arrested after stealing a pair of shoes and a cellphone at the YMCA.
Bruce Allan Pride, 51, 1636 Howell St., Fort Wayne, is being charged with two counts of theft, class A misdemeanors; and two counts of theft with prior enhancements, level 6 felonies.
On June 20, 2018, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department was dispatched to YMCA regarding a theft that occurred the day prior. The officer spoke with a male subject, who said he accidentally left a pair of shoes at the YMCA on June 19. He contacted a friend to search for them but was not able to locate the shoes.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on June 21, the officer was contacted by a second male subject who said he had surveillance footage of the incident. In the footage, a male, later identified as Pride, could be seen picking up the male subject’s shoes and leaving the YMCA with them.
On June 28, a Warsaw police officer responded to a theft report at the YMCA. An employee said a customer reported to him that his cellular phone was lost or stolen at the YMCA and left contact information in case the cellular phone was turned in.
The employee said he checked surveillance video and saw the customer’s phone on the bleachers in the basketball court area. He then observed Pride take the cellular phone. On June 28, the officer spoke with Pride in regards to another theft. During this conversation, Pride provided the officer with the pair of shoes that were stolen, as well as the stolen cellular phone.
Pride was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 24, 2019, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
