Warsaw Man Arrested For Domestic Battery
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after preventing a female from calling 911 during an argument.
Alberto Castillo, 48, 501 W. Jefferson St., Apartment C., Warsaw, is being charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony; domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; and interference with the reporting of a crime, a class A misdemeanor.
On Dec. 28, 2018, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a 911 hang-up call at the Warsaw Lodge. When the officer arrived at the scene, he talked with a female subject. According to the affidavit of probable cause, the female said she and Castillo were arguing when the argument escalated to the point that she feared for her safety. The female attempted to call 911 on two occasions and Castillo stopped her both times.
The first time the female attempted to call 911, Castillo grabbed the phone from her and disconnected the call. The second time she attempted to call, Castillo drug her across the floor. The female sustained rug burns on her forearm and both elbows, as well as cuts on her hand as a result of this confrontation.
A child was present at the scene during the altercation. The child witnessed the female trying to call the police and Castillo dragging the female across the floor.
Castillo has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance.
