Warsaw Man Arrested After Violating No Contact Order, Strangling Female
WARSAW — A Warsaw man is facing charges after violating a no contact order.
Jarred Jay Miller, 20, 466 Clinic Court, Warsaw, is being charged with strangulation and domestic battery with a child under the age of 16 present, both level 6 felonies; domestic battery and invasion of privacy, both class A misdemeanors; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause and police, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office were called at 12:48 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, to the 2400 lock of West CR 250S, Warsaw, for a civil dispute. The female caller stated Miller was headed to her residence and she wanted to obtain property from him. She also reported he had several active arrest warrants.
While officers were responding, the female called 911 advising she had been battered by Miller. When officers arrived in the area, Miller had left. Officers spoke with a female who advised that Miller pushed his way into her residence, gave her the keys to her vehicle, pushed her against the door and grabbed her throat, restricting her breathing. The female had red marks on her neck.
The female stated that a minor was present in the home and witnessed the battery. She told officers that Miller ran out the back door of the residence, knocking the door off the hinges. Officers observed the broken door.
The female currently has a no contact order against Miller. The no contact order states that Miller is to have no contact with the female. The no contact order was served to Miller on July 18, 2018.
The vicim told police he was possibly in Warsaw. Information was relayed to Warsaw Police Department. Officers from Warsaw and the sheriff’s office located Miller’s vehicle on North Detroit Street and performed a traffic stop.
Officers found that Miller had a plastic bag containing a plantlike substance, which officers identified as marijuana, as well as a glass smoking device used for smoking marijuana.
Miller was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sunday, Jan. 20, on a $5,750 surety and cash bond.
