Campbell Awarded Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Fellowship
WARSAW — Lydia Campbell, a teacher at Washington STEM Academy, is the recipient of a 2019 Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Fellowship.
According to a WCS press release, the “$12,000 fellowship enables educators to pursue their dreams and passions, explore new areas of interest, plus expand and develop new and existing talents. Renewal times are opportunities for intentional exploration and reflection that will result in renewed energy, enthusiasm and creativity in teachers and thereby in classrooms and schools.”
Campbell’s project, “Pen to Path,” will enable the teacher to enroll in a refresher creative writing course; participate in the National Writers’ Workshop Write-Out event set within national parks; and visit and write in nine western national parks including the Rocky Mountains, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Redwood, Yellowstone and the Badlands. Through this experience, she said she hopes to enrich her love of creative writing and adventurous spirit.
