Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
9:53 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, West CR 950S, east of South CR 500W, Claypool. Driver: Dakota R. Prater, 18, North CR 900E, Akron. Prater lost control of his vehicle in snow on the side of the roadway. His vehicle went off the road and rolled over onto the driver side. Damage up to $5,000.
7:06 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, North Syracuse-Webster Road, south of East CR 1200N, Syracuse. Driver: Stephenie Boesenberg, 34, West Brooklyn Street, Syracuse. Boesenberg’s vehicle began to slide on the icy road as she was attempting to pass the vehicle in front of her. Boesenberg’s vehicle left the east side of the road, striking a stop sign warning sign. Damage up to $2,500.
2:47 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, West CR 1350N and North CR 950W, Nappanee. Drivers: Matthew J. Borkholder, 19, 4C Road, Bremen; and Ronda J. Kuhns, 21, West CR 950N, Nappanee. Prior to the collision, Kuhns was traveling behind Borkholder, who was towing a trailer. Kuhns stated that when Borkholder began making a turn she did not see brake light activated on the trailer. She stated she attempted to stop but began to slide on the icy roadway. Kuhns’ vehicle struck the trailer being towed by Borkholder’s vehicle. The trailer had defective lights, according to Borkholder. Kuhns had facial lacerations with bleeding but refused EMS. Damage up to $10,000.
10:35 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, South Country Club Road, north of East CR 600S, Claypool. Driver: Joshua A. Stevens, 39, East CR 1000S, North Manchester. Stevens lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway and struck a tree. Damage up to $10,000.
10:17 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, East CR 200N and North CR 400E, Warsaw. Drivers: Vasiliy I. Sidorenko, 41, Shandwick Drive, Antelope, Calif.; and Michelle G. Apeland, 16, North CR 400E, Warsaw. The vehicles collided at the intersection. Damage up to $10,000.
9:39 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, North SR 13 and EMS B6 Lane, North Webster. Drivers: Dylan J. Sims, 19, South CR 700E, Pierceton; and Chasity A. McDonald, 39, East CR 250N, Pierceton. Sims’ vehicle rear-ended McDonald’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
1:23 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, East Harper Road and East VanBuren Street, Leesburg. Driver: Dominik B. Sanderson, 22, East Crooked Mile Road, Cromwell. Sanderson’s vehicle slid and struck a stop sign and a NIPSCO power pole. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
8:55 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, North CR 175E, south of East CR 75N, Warsaw. Drivers: Dollie K. Bumgardner, 21, East CR 200N, Warsaw; and Stephanie L. Cripe, 35, East CR 250N, Pierceton. The vehicles collided at the intersection. Damage up to $10,000.
8:08 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, Ross Avenue, Warsaw. Driver: Larry Rocha, 58, West Porter Street, Warsaw. Rocha’s bus struck a guide wire for a NIPSCO utility pole while he was backing out of a driveway. Numerous children were on the bus at the time of the incident but no injuries were reported. Damage up to $10,000.
8:36 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, US 30, west of Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: James R. Frantz, 65, East Dellview Drive, Warsaw; and David M. Warner, 35, North Knollwood Drive, Warsaw. Frantz’s vehicle rear-ended Warner’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
8:27 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, East US 30, west of Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Daniel E. Bahrke, 45, North 7th Street, Decatur; and Leonard E. Burns, 48, Inverness Point, Warsaw. Bahrke stated that the sun was extremely bright and in his eyes. He advised he was holding one hand up trying to block the glare from the sun and noticed that they still had the green light at the intersection but did not see that Burns’ vehicle had stopped in front of him. Bahrke’s vehicle rear-ended Burns’ vehicle. Burns’ vehicle is used as a taxi and there was a passenger in the vehicle. The passenger was not injured. Burns was transported to the hospital with a possible neck injury. Damage up to $10,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
12:05 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, Pierceton Road, east of Packerton Road, Winona Lake. Driver: Stephen P. William, 27, Kings Court, Winona Lake. William’s vehicle left the roadway and went into a ditch, striking a utility pole. Damage up to $10,000.
