Martha M. Yerger
Martha M. (Firestone) Yerger, 78, Newville, Penn., formerly of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at her home. She was born on Jan. 20, 1940, in Syracuse, to Louis E. and Pauline (Hibschman) Firestone.
She graduated from Syracuse High School, received her registered nurse diploma from Parkview Methodist School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, in 1961 and worked as an RN throughout her life. She was a member of Doubling Gap First Church of God and formerly attended the Syracuse Church of God.
She is survived by her husband; two sons: David (Ellen) Yerger, Indiana, Penn.; John (Theresa) Yerger, Brigantine Island, N.J.; four grandchildren: Elainey, Elizabeth, Lorraine and Julian Yerger; two sisters: Mary Jo (Sam) Lundy, North Webster; Peg Halsey, Syracuse; four brothers: Jerry (Barb) Firestone, Noblesville; Thomas (Shirley) Firestone, Elkhart; Gary (Melinda) Firestone, South Bend; and David Firestone, Mishawaka.
Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Syracuse Church of God, 104 E. Washington St., Syracuse, with Pastor Stan Owen officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery. Owen Family Funeral Home 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, is in charge of local arrangements.
