Ron Shoemaker Files For Warsaw Mayor Position
WARSAW — Current Warsaw Councilman Ron Shoemaker, Republican, officially filed for the position of Warsaw mayor today, Jan. 18.
Shoemaker has served as a councilmember since 2015 when he won a caucus to fill the term of the late Charlie Smith. He first showed interest in the mayoral position when he established an exploratory committee in June 2018.
When he filed his exploratory committee, Shoemaker noted, “ I believe we have a positive message for change to share with friends and the residents of Warsaw.”
Shoemaker was raised in Warsaw, graduated in 1966 from Warsaw Community High School and attended Indiana University. In his early 20s, he entered the orthopedic industry in Warsaw with Depuy and later worked with Zimmer.
Shoemaker was not able to be immediately reached for comment this afternoon.
So far, the only other candidate for mayor is the current mayor Joseph Thallemer.
