TIPPECANOE VALLEY GIRLS 60, ROCHESTER 31
Valley’s girls overcame a relatively slow start to pick up a big Three Rivers Conference win over visiting Rochester Thursday night.
The two teams were knotted at 10 after one, but the Lady Vikings used a 20-9 second period to get in the driver’s seat and continued building toward the win, their second straight.
Sophie Bussard scored 22 points to lead the Vikings, while Hayley Backus had another great night with 11 points and seven rebounds. Sidney Wagner chipped in 10 points while passing out five assists as Valley moved to 6-1 in the TRC in a three-way tie atop the standings alongside Northfield and Manchester.
The Vikings (14-5) resume conference play at Southwood Saturday night.
MISHAWAKA MARIAN GIRLS 44, NORTHWOOD 42
NorthWood’s girls lost their second straight in a match-up between top 10-ranked 3A programs in Nappanee Thursday.
The Black Swish actually led by one, 31-30, after three but came up a little short in the fourth period. Maddy Payne and Kate Rulli scored 16 and 10 points, respectively, for ICGSA 10th-ranked NorthWood but were matched by Makayla Weaver and McKenzie Hudgen, who scored 16 and 12 for the third-ranked Knights (19-1). Karlie Fielstra chipped in six, and Kenzie Bergman scored five for Wood (15-6).
NorthWood’s JV team prevailed in its game, 29-21.
The Panthers return to Northern Lakes Conference play at Goshen Saturday night.
TRITON GIRLS 37, ARGOS 29
Triton’s girls bounced back from their Bi-County Tournament-opener Tuesday with a win over Argos in the tourney consoles at LaVille High School Thursday.
Jaela Faulkner scored 12 points to lead the Lady Trojans, while Delanie Groves knocked down a trio of 3s on her way to 11 points. Chelsea Johnson chipped in eight for Triton (6-15).
Morgan Dunlap paced Argos (8-11) with 10 points.
Triton will close out both Hoosier North Athletic Conference play and the regular season when it hosts North Judson next Friday, Jan. 25.
LCA BOYS 53, ELKHART CHRISTIAN 44
Lakeland Christian Academy’s boys won their second straight opposite visiting Elkhart Christian Thursday.
Braxton Keller scored a career-high 18 points to go with eight rebounds leading the Cougars to the win. Jake Harmon was close behind with 17 points and five rebounds, and Landon Twombly scored nine points while dishing out seven assists. Landon Paris chipped in five points and five rebounds for LCA (5-10).
Luke Burns paced Elkhart with 13, while Bryce Coursen scored 10, and Joe Ndaiga finished with nine for the Eagles (5-7).
Lakeland plays at Clinton Christian Friday night.
PLYMOUTH FRESHMAN BOYS 36, WAWASEE 26
Wawasee’s freshmen came up short in a Northern Lakes Conference loss at Plymouth Thursday.
Landon Gause scored nine points to lead the Warriors offensively. Ben Haines chipped in six points, and Gavin Hunziker scored four for Wawasee (8-4, 2-3 NLC).
The Warriors will host Fairfield Monday.
LAKEVIEW 8TH GRADE BOYS 40, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 33
Jaxson Gould had his way with 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Lakeview’s eighth grade boys topped area rival Tippecanoe Valley Thursday.
German Flores hauled in 12 rebounds to go with seven points. Nehemiah Wright and Alex Cook each scored three, and Tucker Curtis and Will Bergen led the Tigers defensively in the win.
Paul Leasure led the Vikings with 21 points while Reilley Wood and Dom Welk each had six points.
LAKEVIEW 8TH GRADE GIRLS 51, TRITON 8
The Lakeview eighth grade girls basketball team handed Triton a lopsided loss Thursday.
Ten girls made the scoring column for the Tigers, led by Kenzie Atkins’ 11 points. Lauren Grose and Macey Perry followed close behind with eight points, Tessa Graney and Rylee Burns added six each, and Macy Wayne put up four.
Triton stats were not available.
The Tigers (3-2) play in the Warsaw Classic at Edgewood Saturday at 10 a.m.
LAKEVIEW 7TH GRADE BOYS 42, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 24
The Lakeview seventh grade boys defeated Tippecanoe Valley Thursday.
The Tigers (15-5) got a balanced offensive effort as Julian Saldivar, Isaiah Lara and Quinten Maahs each scored nine points.
Landon Durkes paced Valley with 12 points.
LAKEVIEW 7TH GRADE GIRLS 31, TRITON 9
Playing in front of a crowd that included the Grace College women’s basketball program, Abigail Davis led the Tigers with 11 points. Joey Rastrelli added 10 points in the win.

TIPPECANOE VALLEY 6TH GRADE BOYS ‘B’ 19, WABASH 13
Six Vikings scored in the ‘A’ win Thursday, led by Blain Sheetz’s nine points and Dallas Miller’s eight points. In the ‘B’ win, Oliver Trigg, Ethan Young and Colton Crabb all netted four points for the Vikings.
