Illinois Man Charged With Molesting Two Minors At Local Hotel
WARSAW — An Illinois man was arrested after police say he molested two children while staying at a local hotel.
Joseph Thomas Savarino Jr., 42, 150 S. Country Court, Bourbonnais, Ill., is being charged with two counts of child molesting, both level 4 felonies.
On Nov. 27, a detective with the Bourbonnais Illinois Police Department spoke with two children under the age of 14 years old. The detective had received information from their parent that they had been touched inappropriately by Savarino. The parent told the detective that the two children had stayed in a Warsaw hotel room with him sometime between Aug. 31 and Sept. 2.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, one of the children told the detective that Savarino had slept between them in the same bed. Sometime during the evening, the child says that Savarino inappropriately touched her under her clothing. She told the detective that Savarino knew what he was doing because “he was looking at her like a crazy person.” The child advised that this occurred for approximately one hour and she told her mother what had occurred when she got home.
The second child told the detective that Savarino had slept in the same bed as her and also touched her inappropriately under her clothing.
The detective spoke with Savarino who admitted that he had stayed in the hotel room with the two children and that they had slept in the same bed. He advised that he thought one of the children was having a dream and that at one time she was lying on top of him. Savarino told the detective that he believes the children were telling the truth if they are accusing someone else, but they aren’t telling the truth if they are accusing him.
Savarino was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 16, with a $15,250 surety and cash bond.
