Silver Lake Woman Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Children With Knife, Striking One Child
SILVER LAKE — A Silver Lake woman is facing charges after allegedly threatening children with a knife and striking one minor.
Christy Diana Warstler, 48, 207 N. Poplar St., Silver Lake, is being charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon and domestic battery to a person less than 14 years of age by a person at least 18 years of age, both level 6 felonies.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Wednesday, Jan. 9, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and Claypool Police Department responded to a battery/intimidation at 207 N. Poplar Street in Silver Lake.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a minor female who told them that Warstler pointed a kitchen knife at her, pressed the sharp side of the knife against the minor’s side and told the minor she needed to kill herself. The minor stated that she had several layers of clothing on and the knife did not cut her. The minor female advised that Warstler told all the children they needed to kill themselves while Warstler held the knife and pointed it toward them.
Officers then spoke with a minor male, who stated that Warstler threw him to the floor, got on top of him and was striking him in the face.
Warstler allegedly admitted to police that she had gotten physical with the children. She told law enforcement officers that she used a knife to threaten the children because this is what she needs to do to get them to listen to her.
Warstler was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail on Wednesday, Jan. 9, on a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
In October 2017 Warstler was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of battery resulting in bodily injury and criminal conversion.
