Syracuse Man Arrested For Domestic Battery
SYRACUSE — A Syracuse man was recently arrested after police say he battered a female while children were present in the house.
Jared Austin Andrew Johnson, 23, 72504 County Road 35, Syracuse, is being charged with domestic battery in the presence of a child, a level 6 felony, and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Dec. 30, an officer with the Syracuse Police Department responded to a domestic fight. When the officer arrived, he spoke with the female victim. The officer observed blood on the female’s face and shirt.
According to the victim, she and Johnson had been arguing when he became angry, pinned her against a door and hit her several times.
The officer then spoke with Johnson. Johnson advised that they were arguing when he knocked the female down on the floor, causing her nose to bleed.
Three children were present inside the house when the battery occurred. One of the children told the officer that she observed Johnson hit the female in the face and that Johnson “needed a timeout.”
Johnson was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 30 and released on a $1,000 surety bond. He has an initial hearing scheduled for Jan. 31.
