Rebecca Brightbill Waas
Rebecca Brightbill “Becky” Waas, 94, passed away Jan. 5, 2019, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center. She was born Sept. 22, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Alvin F. and Mae Esther (Good) Brightbill.
She attended Manchester College. She was a member or the P.E.O Chapter DK of North Manchester, Manchester Community Club, and Manchester Church of the Brethren. Having a love for music, she founded and directed the Timbercrest Choir for 20 years and was also a member of the Manchester Civic Symphony for ten years. She married David A. Waas on August 15, 1947.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband David A. Waas, North Manchester; three daughters, Martha S. Waas, Indianapolis; Deborah A. (Thomas C. Bryton) Waas, LaVerne, Calif.; and Elizabeth Waas, North Manchester; one brother David Brightbill, Bridgewater, Va.; one sister Faith Brightbill, Washington D.C.; ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Lorraine “Lori” Waas, and one sister Darlene Klemmedson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29, with a time to be announced, at the Manchester Church of the Brethren, 1306 Beckley Street, North Manchester, IN 46962. Pastor Kurt Borgmann and Pastor Karen Eberly will officiate and burial will be held at Manchester Church of the Brethren Memorial Garden.
