Karen Lynn Moudy — UPDATED
Karen Lynn Moudy, 55, Leesburg, passed away at 10:10 p.m., Jan. 5, 2019, from Fort Wayne’s Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.
Born to Thomas and Norma J. (Dinger) Kovalenko, Miss Kovalenko was born in Lakewood, Ohio. She was one of three children raised in the family home and was united in marriage to Clayton Moudy on Aug. 10, 2007, on the water at Lake Tippecanoe.
Mrs. Moudy had earned an associate degree in accounting from Davenport University, working for many years under a CPA. Most recently she was working for Safeway Door in Warsaw. She was a substitute teacher for Wawasee Community Schools.
She was known to young relatives as “Kare Bear,” was a beautiful, colorful, and family oriented woman of substance. She loved her life by Lake Tippy and being with her husband and her children. Her passions included a love for animals, gardening and music. She delighted those who knew her with her sharp wit and creative pursuits. She was incredibly artistic and enjoyed needlepoint and quilting, among many other crafts.
Karen Moudy is survived by her husband of 11 years, Clayton Moudy of Leesburg; two daughters, Madelyn and Aubrey Moudy both of Leesburg; son, John Moudy of Leesburg; brother, Jeff (wife, Donna) Kovalenko of Middlebury and sister, Nicolette (husband, Matthew) Andert of Elkhart. Additionally, Karen was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Samuel Kovalenko.
Friends may gather with family at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 135 North Harrison Street in Warsaw, from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 26. Beginning at 11 a.m., Father Jonathan Norton will celebrate a memorial mass.
